Successful Transfer Fair Held on Campus

  Update   •

For the first time since the pandemic, the popular Transfer Fair was held live at BCC.

The Transfer Fair featured 65 colleges and was attended by 160 students, according to Thomas Bracken from the Office of Transfer Services, which sponsored the event. Per the college representatives, it was the most well-attended transfer fair of the year compared with those held at other community colleges.

Students learned from the participating colleges about application deadlines, programs, admission requirements, availability of internships and scholarship aid. The Transfer Fair meets a real need for our students to be better informed about their next step after completing BCC. Surveys taken when students begin at BCC indicate that more than 80% of BCC students intend to complete a bachelor’s degree. The Transfer Fair gives our students direct access to important information about their options at 4-year institutions.

Participants were asked to complete a survey after the event and both the students and college representatives were pleased with the Transfer Fair and gave it accolades for its accomplishments.

Thomas Bracken said, “This was a team effort among the Office of Transfer Services, ASAP, College Discovery, CUNY Edge, the First Year Program, Student Life, and the Office of Academic Affairs. With all of us working together, we ensured the program would be a success for our students.”

The date of the next Transfer Fair in the fall has not yet been determined.
