THE STUDENTS SPEAK — AND ARE HEARD
The first Bronx Community College Student Town Hall Meeting of Fall 2020 convened online on Thursday, September 10, at 1:00 p.m. Joining over 100 students were some 20 BCC faculty administrators and staff, including President Thomas A. Isekenegbe, Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Lester Sandres Rápalo and Vice President for Student Success Irene R. Delgado, Student Government President Priscilla Tokor and Associate Dean for Student Development Manny Lopez.
One of the few participants attending the virtual meeting from the grounds of BCC, President Isekenegbe told the others “I miss all of you. It is really lonely without our students. Some day we will come back to our beautiful campus.”
“We are here because we want to hear from our students and answer their questions,” said Vice President Delgado. And there were plenty of questions, submitted via the Chat button. They ranged from issues common to every semester, like financial aid and graduation, to questions specific to the era of COVID-19, like reaching faculty and advisers online and other technical challenges.
Following the general meeting, the students were invited to join breakout rooms focusing on more specific concerns like using Blackboard and other distance learning platforms and further questions about financial aid.
