Town Hall with CUNY Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor Wendy F. Hensel
On Thursday, April 28 BCC welcomed Dr. Wendy Hensel, CUNY Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor, to campus. The day included a series of meetings with the President and his Cabinet, faculty leaders, a luncheon with student leaders, and concluded with a Town Hall and a tour of the campus.
Dr. Hensel said: “I love BCC There are wonderful things happening here. The faculty really cares about student success and the students appreciate all that is done for them. CUNY is invested in helping BCC. The students are the reason we are here. We have a moral imperative to help them.”
She chronicled her own story as an educator starting with working as a non-tenured track professor where she fell in love with her students and decided to make teaching a career. Her positions at Georgia State University included roles as provost and senior vice president of academic affairs and as dean of the College of Law. Georgia State University is very similar to CUNY in servicing low-income and first-generation students.
In conclusion, Dr. Hensel said: “This is only the beginning of an ongoing dialogue between CUNY and BCC. We are here to help you and welcome any ideas you may have to strengthen this relationship.”
