A Message to Students from Interim President Milton Santiago

Dear Students,

Welcome Broncos! I am glad you are here.

As you begin this 2023-2024 academic year, I want you to know that this is a new start for me as well. Our dedicated faculty and staff members are here to support you in every endeavor and are here to help make your experience at Bronx Community College (BCC) a positive one.

Like many of you, I was the first in my family to attend college. My family came from Puerto Rico, and I recall my own father’s struggle to make a living while working in the garment district.  I believe deeply in the impact a community college, and especially BCC, can have on students’ lives socially and economically.

I encourage you to seek out services available on campus and, most importantly, never hesitate to ask questions. We offer many financial aid options and scholarships to ease the burden of tuition costs, and we are more than happy to walk you through the process.

If you are feeling uneasy, trained counselors are available. If you want to enhance your academic skills, make use of our tutoring services – from our writing labs to our math labs. Parents should explore our early childcare center. BCC also has a food pantry that can serve as a vital resource for you and your family.

Remember to download the BCC app as your go-to resource for everything BCC. This is a great tool to help you navigate your college experience and connect with other students.

As you know, BCC’s course selection ranges from classes in the arts and humanities, to the ever-expanding programs in STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) fields, where demand for well-trained specialists is high.  Additionally, we have a host of clubs and extracurricular activities for you to engage in. Stay on campus after class hours, and get involved. Find something that interests you. Your experience will be richer with active participation.

Good luck to each of you. Together, we can make your college years here at BCC an incredible part of your journey.

Respectfully,

Milton Santiago, Ed.D.
Interim President
Bronx Community College
