Welcome Students – Message from the President
Welcome to the 2022-2023 academic year! As the Spring 2023 semester approaches and the excitement of new beginnings fills the air, I enthusiastically look forward to greeting both new and returning students on the first day of classes. I was happy to be able to personally welcome you to campus to the start of what I know is going to be a great semester.
This past Fall saw the start of our campus coming back to life. We increased our in-person course offerings and events, including the 2022 Commencement as 1,655 graduates received their diplomas on Ohio Field. The signs of full re-engagement of our vibrant campus life are even more evident as we begin the Spring semester.
After over two years of hybrid learning and working, my message to you this semester is a simple one. Let’s re-engage with each other in-person. I encourage you to get involved in all the spirited activities that happen around campus. Join clubs that interest you; attend cultural events, such as music performances or art exhibits; seek out educational seminars and discussions. BCC offers this and so much more, on a wide range of diverse topics and interests. I ask that you take advantage of all that BCC has to offer. The BCC experience will lead to lifelong friendships and memories.
I hope you have a great Spring 2023. I am reminded of the words of Booker T. Washington: “Success is to be measured not so much for the position that one has reached in life as by the obstacles which he has overcome while trying to succeed.”
I congratulate all of you who have turned obstacles into opportunities, and look forward to a reinvigorated and re- engaged year ahead.
Thomas A. Isekenegbe, Ph.D.
President
