28th Annual Kids Comic Con Draws 400+ Children and Parents

Held in Colston Hall, the event brought together comic book artists, vendors, educators, and BCC departments to inspire youth creativity and hands-on learning. Highlights included artist panels featuring industry icons Shawn Martinbrough (Marvel and DC Comics) and Alex Segura (Dark Circle and Archie Comics), as well as interactive STEM activities in drone piloting, video gaming, artificial intelligence, and biological science.
Founded in 2007 by Eugene Adams, Director of Collaborative Education at BCC, and award-winning comic book writer and educator Alex Simmons, Kids Comic Con is the first and largest Bronx-based free comic book art and literacy event. “We created Kids Comic Con to support child literacy and to highlight the importance and power of art in the lives of young people,” said Adams.
More than 30 comic book artists and vendors participated alongside BCC programs and student clubs, including the Science and Technology Entry Program, Male Empowerment Network, TRIO Pre-College Programs, CSTEP, the Biology Department, and student organizations such as the African Students Association, Madd Hackers, and the Hip Hop Club. Now in its 28th year, BCC Kids Comic Con continues to spark imagination, strengthen learning, and open pathways to creative and STEM futures for Bronx youth.
