A Lecture by BCC Alumnus and Actor Joel Weiss
The BCC Media and Digital Film Club presented a lecture by Joel Weiss on April 4. The lecture focused on “Directing the Actor for a Student Film.”
Joel Weiss is a graduate of both Bronx Community College and Lehman College in the Bronx. He has appeared in more than 80 films, 60 plays and 40 television shows and dozens of commercials, including multiple requests by acclaimed film directors Walter Hill, Garry Marshall and Robert Townsend. Joel kicked off his career as one of the stars of the classic cult film “The Warriors” as Cropsey, the Rogue gang member who has the unforgettable part of driving the Hearse

In 2019, the film is celebrating its 40th anniversary with celebrations worldwide, including ones Joel is an invited guest at in England, Ireland, Scotland, Chicago and the film’s birthplace of New York City. Other cult roles are in the sci-fi/horror film “Congo” and as Cal Rooney, the carnival barker serial killer killed by fellow serial killer Dexter in the hit TV series “Dexter”
