Bronx Community College is proud to celebrate alumna Rubi Larancuent and her remarkable academic journey from BCC to Princeton University.

Rubi graduated from Bronx Community College in Spring 2023 as the college’s Salutatorian and a participant in the CUNY Accelerated Study in Associate Programs (ASAP). During her time at BCC, she earned a 4.0 GPA and played an active leadership role on campus. Rubi supported her peers as a CUNY ASAP peer mentor and math tutor and served as Secretary of the Student Government Association. Her academic achievements earned national recognition, including being named a 2023 scholar by both the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation and the Kaplan Educational Foundation.

Her path to mathematics was not immediate. Rubi began her college studies as a Psychology major before a Statistics course—paired with the encouragement of a faculty mentor—helped her recognize mathematics as her true passion.

Following her graduation from BCC, Rubi transferred to Princeton University, where she is now a junior majoring in Mathematics, with a minor in Cognitive Science and a Certificate in Teacher Preparation. She currently serves as Co-President of the Princeton Transfer Association and is studying abroad in Australia as part of her junior year.

Rubi’s journey highlights how mentorship and support can open pathways to higher education.
