BCC Celebrates Black History Month 2026
Bronx Community College invites students, faculty, staff, and community members to participate in a series of Black History Month events throughout February 2026. These programs highlight Black history, culture, scholarship, and community.
Dr. LaShawn Harris Delivers the Inaugural Geraldyne Pemberton Diallo Sharpe Annual Lecture

Award-winning historian Dr. LaShawn Harris presents the inaugural Geraldyne Pemberton Diallo Sharpe Annual Lecture, focusing on the life and legacy of Eleanor Bumpurs, whose 1984 killing by NYPD during an eviction became a pivotal moment in New York City history. Drawing from her book, Tell Her Story: Eleanor Bumpurs & the Police Killing That Galvanized New York City, Dr. Harris explores the social and political landscape of 1980s New York and its lasting impact.

Student Convocation & Black History Month Kick-Off

Join Bronx Community College for the official Black History Month Kick-Off and Student Convocation. The event will feature welcome remarks from the Student Government Association president, the BCC president, and an alum keynote speaker, along with a resource fair, food, games, music, and dancing. Hosted in collaboration with MEN, OSL, and OSDI, this celebration honors Black history and Black identity at BCC.
Amadou Diallo Youth Arts and Sci-Tech Day

Amadou Diallo Youth Arts and Sci-Tech Day is a youth-centered program that honors the life and living legacy of Amadou Diallo while amplifying national conversations around justice, human rights, and equity. Through hands-on activities and creative engagement, the event encourages young people to use art, science, and technology as tools to challenge injustice, inspire change, and uplift their communities.
65th Anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s Visit to the Hall of Fame Playhouse
