BCC Remembers Professor Henry A. Skinner
With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Professor Henry A. Skinner, who departed peacefully on June 6, 2025.
Professor Skinner was a beloved member of the Bronx Community College family, dedicating 49 years to the Department of Health, Physical Education, and Recreation. His passion for wellness and community led him to co-found Run the Bronx, a tradition that continues to inspire.
Throughout his distinguished career, Professor Skinner was honored with the BCC Foundation’s Distinguished Service Award and recognized by the U.S. House of Representatives for his lifelong commitment to education and service in the South Bronx. He also served as President of Unity & Strength, championing equity and empowerment for all.
Professor Skinner’s legacy of dedication, leadership, and compassion will live on in the countless lives he touched.
