BCC Serves as Backdrop for Major CUNY Announcement on AI and Emerging Technology ProgramsBronx Community College recently hosted a major announcement by the City of New York and CUNY unveiling a $5.3 million investment to expand artificial intelligence and emerging technology degree pathways for students across the University.

Held in the iconic Gould Memorial Library, the event introduced “CUNY Tech Futures,” an innovative initiative expected to reach more than 2,500 students annually over the next three years. Through funding provided by the New York City Office of Talent and Workforce Development’s Tech Industry Partnership and NYC Tech Talent Pipeline, 12 CUNY campuses, including BCC, will receive support for new AI-focused academic programs and enhanced career-connected experiential learning opportunities.

The investment is designed to prepare students for AI-powered careers and strengthen pathways into New York City’s growing technology sector. The announcement featured remarks from NYC Talent Executive Director Doug Lipari, our very own President Dr. Larry D. Johnson Jr., and CUNY Dean for Technology and Computer & Information Sciences Aankit Patel.

Guests also viewed AI technology demonstrations by current CUNY students, showcasing the skills they are developing to meet the demands of emerging industries and the future workforce.
