Industrial Cybersecurity Fundamentals Level 1 -Secured Sun

The program is designed for individuals who want to begin by learning the fundamentals of information technology and cybersecurity and then gradually develop the specialized knowledge and practical skills needed to protect industrial systems, operational technology environments, energy infrastructure, control systems, and related digital assets.
Participants will also have opportunities to prepare for foundational, industry-recognized certifications that can support employment and career advancement in energy-sector cybersecurity, information technology, industrial cybersecurity, operational technology security, and the broader cybersecurity field.
The Secured Sun Program is open to all members of the community. No previous education, technical experience, or cybersecurity background is required to begin the program.
Program Outline
Registration Fee: $40 (NON- REFUNDABLE)
Program Model: Hybrid (Online- In-Person)
The program is flexible and designed to support everyone, regardless of their work or study commitments.
Program Start Date: Tuesday, November 3, 2026
The start date is subject to change until the required number of participants is reached.
The program includes comprehensive exam preparation and practical, hands-on training in a fully equipped computer lab.
Program Days & Times:
Tuesdays: 6.00 pm: 8.30 pm
Fridays: 6.00 pm: 8.30 pm
The program is flexible to support everyone regardless of their work or study circumstances.
Prerequisites:
No prior education or experience is required.
This program is open to all community members of all ages and backgrounds.
It is designed to accommodate students at every level.
Preparing for the certification exam.
- Preparing students for success in the exams by training them on practice questions specifically designed to support Continuing Education students at Bronx Community College, with the aim of building the skills and confidence needed to successfully pass the CompTIA certification exams.
- Exam vouchers will be provided, and exam sessions will be arranged in the college’s computer lab for participants who comply with the program’s rules and regulations.
Practical Computer Lab Training.
A computer lab will be available to provide program participants with hands-on training in a wide range of IT and cybersecurity skills, including various applications related to cybersecurity in industrial environments.
Job Market Preparation: Skills, Interview Prep & Job Market Readiness.
The program supports students’ career growth through workshops on resumes and interviews, collaboration with recruiters, participation in job fairs, tailored career plans, and ongoing interview support.
Opportunities for Future Programs and Career Advancement
Outstanding students who successfully complete the program, pass the required examinations, and comply with all program policies may be considered for future advanced training opportunities as they become available. These opportunities may include Security for Operational Technology (SecOT+) , Networking, Cybersecurity, Linux and Windows Operating Systems, DevOps, Cybersecurity Analysis, Penetration Testing, Software Development, Programming, AWS Cloud Computing, and other emerging technology fields.
