Cobb, Gregory

Professor Gregory Cobb is an Assistant Professor in the Human Services Discipline in the Department of Social Sciences. He is an alumnus of The City University of New York’s Bronx Community College and Lehman College. He earned his master’s degree in social work from Fordham University and professional licensure as a NY State Licensed Master Social Worker. In addition to his teaching responsibilities, he serves as the Human Services Fieldwork Coordinator. Professor Cobb began his career in academia in 2003 as an Adjunct Professor at Bronx Community College. His academic tenure overlaps with a successful 23-year career working with at-risk youth and families served within the NY State Child Welfare and Juvenile Justice systems. In this capacity he provided direct treatment services and administrative oversight of the day-to-day service delivery systems within several residential treatment facilities. He developed and implemented a wide range of treatment services and intervention strategies organized around Trauma Informed Systems of Care. These experiences have laid the foundation for his pedagogy and scholarship, which examines the intersectionality of trauma and socio-cultural factors impacting student outcomes within the service delivery systems of higher education.
