“…A hero is any person really intent on making this life a better place for all people.” –Maya Angelou
Since the start of this decade, we have faced a global pandemic, a war in Ukraine, unprecedented supply shortages and soaring inflation. While prices for food, gas, and basic necessities have gone up, wages have remained flat. For so many BCC students, this means working two or three jobs just to cover basic expenses. Where does that leave their education and their futures?
Roughly 15% of BCC student earn under $15,000 a year. Imagine trying to stretch $15,000 in these difficult times? Despite being some of the most financially challenged students in New York, our students are determined, ambitious and passionate about completing their educational journeys.
You can make this happen. You can be a hero to our students by stepping up and showing that you believe in them, you value their efforts and you have confidence in their ability to succeed. The BCC Giving Tuesday Campaign is the perfect opportunity for our community of faculty, staff, alumni, retirees and friends to provide support, reward determination, and help our students reach their goals.
Your contribution today goes directly to the students who need it the most. Donations to the BCC Foundation assists with addressing the most pressing needs of students as they arise—scholarships, emergency aid, textbook and transportation support, food, housing, and more. By joining this CUNY Tuesday, you are championing students who have made higher education a priority despite financial challenges.
