BCC Racks Up the Awards at CUNY IT Conference 2024
BCC’s Information Technology team came home with multiple awards from the 23rd Annual City University of New York (CUNY) IT Conference held December 5-6 at John Jay College of Criminal Justice. CUNY annually hosts the Conference, a platform for faculty, staff, and IT professionals to discuss technological advancements and their applications within the university system. A highlight is the presentation of various awards recognizing outstanding contributions in information technology.
IT Team Member Sammy Henry was honored with the Excellence in Service Award, given to an individual who has demonstrated outstanding service and dedication to enhancing technological services for users at their respective college. Sammy has been an invaluable asset to BCC’s IT department, excelling in his dual roles as Project Manager and Technical Support Lead for the College’s website and applications. His exceptional project management skills, meticulous attention to detail, and proactive approach to problem solving ensure that every project he oversees is completed with precision and success.
Additionally, BCC was honored with both the Outstanding IT Project Award and the IT Innovation Award. The Outstanding IT Project Award went to Akwasi Antwi, Jacqueline Barbour, Thelma Carmona, Kelvin Contreras, Manuel Decena, Yohan Heredia, Derrick Le, Russell Pollack and Pedro Quiñones for their Device Loaner application empowering student access to technology. This application allows students to check out electronic devices like library books, helping to bridge the digital divide by providing students with critical academic tools such as laptops and tablets. The IT Innovation Award was given to Akwasi Antwi, Sammy Henry, Albania Nicasio, Pedro Quiñones Yohan Heredia, Derrick Le and Russell Polllack for the Training Registration and Tracking application, which has greatly enhanced BCC’s ability to deliver efficient training programs for students, faculty, and staff.
