Shane, Randi

Dr. Randi Shane is a professor of Psychology in the department of Social Sciences.  She earned her Ph.D. in Neurospcyhology from the Graduate Center of the City University of New York (CUNY), where her research centered on the anatomical and pharmacological mechanisms underlying pain and pain relief. Since joining the faculty at Bronx Community College, CUNY, Dr. Shane has shifted her focus from laboratory research with animal models to exploring evidence-based teaching practices in psychology, with a particular interest in enhancing student engagement and learning outcomes.

In addition to her academic work, Dr. Shane is a dedicated practitioner of yoga. She completed a 200-hour teacher training with Sri Dharma Mittra and has continued her education with certifications in Children’s and Teen Yoga, as well as advanced training in Katonah Yoga. Her ongoing exploration of the mind-body connection informs both her teaching and personal practice—emphasizing the integration of physical, emotional, and cognitive well-being.
