Laurence O'Connell (Larry) has been teaching at Bronx Community College for the past twenty years: Macroeconomics and Macroeconomics. His teaching philosophy reflects the idea that the study of Economics is much more than the memorization of equations and graphs; rather, we trace the historical thread of ideas and philosophies that make the study of Economics informative, relevant and rewarding.
In addition to BCC, he has taught at other CUNY campuses as well as at New York University, Fordham University, Columbia University, The State University of New York (various campuses), UC-Berkeley and U.C.LA among other universities. In addition to Economics courses, he taught Accounting, Finance, Statistics, Management Science and Operations Management.
Larry has thirty years’ experience in the corporate, government and non-profit sectors of our economy, mainly in finance, budgeting, grant proposal writing, and project management and enjoys sharing these experiences with students and colleagues.
Larry's outside activities include: Copresident of a nonprofit environmental institution, mentor and provide college-readiness information to high school students in Yonkers, NY, mentor students in South Africa using Adobe Connect, taught financial literacy to incarcerated, and worked with the Director of an NGO to setup a hospital and university in Cameroon (and he hopes to return this summer.
