Twenty Bronx Community College (BCC) students participated in the 40th Annual BEYA STEM Conference, held February 13–15, 2026, at the Baltimore Convention Center in Maryland. The conference provided opportunities for professional development, career exploration, and networking in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields.
Prior to the conference, the group visited Lincoln University in Pennsylvania as part of a longstanding BCC tradition of including visits to Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). These visits introduce students to the academic programs and historical significance of HBCUs. In recent years, BCC students have visited Morgan State University, Coppin State University, Howard University, and Bowie State University.
At BEYA, students attended workshops in engineering, computer science, and related fields and met with corporate and government recruiters to learn about internships and career opportunities. The conference also allowed students to connect with peers from colleges and universities across the country and build professional networks. The trip concluded with a visit to the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture in Washington, D.C.
The program was supported by BCC’s Office of Career Development, including the Career Gear™ Boutique, which outfits students with professional attire at no cost for interviews, recruitment events, and special meetings.
