The History Department invites all in the BCC community to
“Remember the Ladies”: A Workshop on Women’s Use of the Rhetoric of the Revolution”
with Prof. Kate Culkin (History Department)
Monday April 13: 11am to 1pm NL 314 (Law Library)

From the beginning of the American Revolution through today, women have used the Revolution’s language of freedom and equality to argue for their rights. This workshop will introduce the audience to this history—from Elizabeth Freeman suing for her freedom to suffragists picketing the White House to twenty-first century large-scale protest marches—and the documents and photographs which allow us to study it. Students will then make their own signs, for any cause or issue they choose. Materials will be provided.
Please join us in recognition of US at 250, and to celebrate Dr. Culkin‘s recent book, Emerson’s Daughters: Ellen Tucker Emerson, Edith Emerson Forbes and Their family Legacy.
Refreshments will be provided, and attendees will have the chance to win a copy of Dr. Culkin‘s book
