BCC Welcomes Elgin Ford as Interim Executive Director of Human Resources

Elgin FordBronx Community College is pleased to announce the appointment of Elgin Ford as the new Interim Executive Director of Human Resources. Elgin brings more than 20 years of cross-sector HR leadership experience to BCC, with a distinguished track record in higher education, corporate, government, and financial services.

Elgin’s professional journey has included key human resources leadership roles at several notable institutions. He served as HR Manager at Morehouse College, Executive Director of Human Resources at York College, and most recently as Associate Vice President of Human Resources at The New School. Across these roles, Elgin has been recognized for his ability to align people strategies with institutional missions — creating cultures defined by collaboration, engagement, and continuous learning.

Throughout his career, Elgin has led enterprise-wide initiatives focused on employee retention, workforce development, and organizational transformation. His approach is rooted in trust-building and transparent communication, ensuring that HR practices not only support compliance and policy, but also serve as a foundation for equity, morale, and institutional effectiveness.

In addition to his professional achievements, Elgin brings a strong commitment to community service and youth development. He has served in leadership roles for mentorship and cultural programs including Youth On The Move, an Atlanta-based initiative offering STEM training and personal development guidance for youth, and Men of Valor, a mentorship program dedicated to supporting young African American men in urban communities.

Elgin also co-sponsored the 2012 American, Israeli, and Palestinian Youth Summit in Israel, an international gathering that convened high school students from across the U.S. and the Middle East for four days of dialogue and cultural exchange focused on building mutual understanding and accountability.

His civic engagement also includes advocacy work in the New York metropolitan area, where he has contributed to voter education and turnout efforts targeting first-time student voters and senior citizens.

Elgin officially joined BCC in October 2025, stepping into a role that is critical to advancing the College’s mission and supporting the faculty, staff, and student workforce. His leadership arrives at a pivotal time, as BCC continues to evolve and grow in response to the dynamic needs of the campus and surrounding Bronx community.
