Aiken, Nathan

Dr. Aiken is an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Social Sciences Department at Bronx Community College. He started at BCC in 2016 in the Office of Personal Counseling and began teaching in 2019. He is also the Associate Director of College Discovery, a program that provides comprehensive support to help students succeed.

His teaching philosophy is grounded in an interactive approach to learning and emphasizes the importance of creating a safe space for each student to engage in the active learning process. His scholarship focuses on supporting students who have been involved in the criminal legal system. He is one of the chairs of the Justice@BCC Committee and a member of the Association of Latino Faculty & Staff.

Dr. Aiken started college as a first-generation student 10 years after completing his GED. He admires the transformative impact higher education has on individuals and the community. In his free time, he can be found with his husband at the gym, the beach, or playing videogames.
