SGA 2025-26

Student Government Association (SGA)

Your voice matters here. Make it count.

The Student Government Association (SGA) is your representative body at BCC. SGA exists so students have a real, direct say in campus life — through College Senate committees, public meetings, and programs that shape the BCC experience for everyone.

What We Do

SGA represents all BCC students. We sponsor events, support student health initiatives, champion social justice efforts, and organize campus recreation and cultural programming.

Through our seats on the College Senate and its sub-committees, we ensure the student perspective is heard where decisions are made.

Programs we support include:

  • Welcome Week
  • Student Convocation
  • Club Fairs
  • Fall and Spring parties
  • Albany Conferences
  • Celebrations, including Hispanic Heritage Month; Black, African & Caribbean Heritage Month; Women’s History Month; Disability Awareness; Global Perspectives; and LGBT culture

Why Join SGA?

Lead at the college and university level

Five of the 15 senators serve as Executive Officers: President, Vice President, Legal Legislator, Treasurer, and Secretary.

Two Executive Officers also represent BCC students at the University Student Senate (USS), giving you a voice across the CUNY system.

Build skills beyond the classroom

As a senator, you’ll develop leadership, public speaking, budgeting, and advocacy skills — while building meaningful connections with faculty, staff, and fellow students.

Give back — and get something real in return

Serving as a senator means representing your fellow students and advocating for what matters on campus.

Senators who complete at least 80% of their required duties receive:

  • $1,000 per semester (Senators)
  • $1,600 per semester (Executive Officers)

For students balancing school, work, and family responsibilities, this stipend recognizes the time and commitment required to serve.
