Policies and Procedures

Registration for Courses

There are three convenient ways to register:

  • Walk-In Registration: Monday – Friday, 9:30am – 6:00pm and Saturday, 8:30am – 12pm.
  • Mail-In Registration: Complete the registration form and enclose it in an envelope with a money order (payable to Bronx Community College) or credit/debit card information and mail to: Workforce and Economic Development, Bronx Community College, Philosophy Hall Room 14, 2155 University Avenue, Bronx, New York 10453.
  • Fax Registration: Fax the completed registration form to 718.289.6018. Include credit/debit card number, security code, card expiration date and signature.

Payment Options:

**No cash payments are accepted**

  • Direct Payments: We accept money orders, credit/debit cards (VISA/MasterCard/Discover) and only company checks.
  • Training Vouchers: We accept training and professional development vouchers from many various governmental agencies, union, community organizations and businesses.
  • Veterans’ Benefits: Veteran students can apply for educational assistance benefits with Bronx Community College’s Office of Veteran and Military Resources, located in Loew Hall Room 114. For more information and assistance, please call 718.289.5447 or visit the office’s website at http://www.bcc.cuny.edu/Veteran-Affairs.
  • Tuition Discounts: Only BCC students, alumni and faculty/staff are eligible for tuition discounts. Students may receive a 10% tuition discount by presenting a current valid BCC identification card. Discounts are applied only for full tuition payments, with a credit/debit card or money order. Also, discounts are applied to individual course registrations.

Course Cancellation Policy

In order for a course to run, a minimum number of registrants must be enrolled. The Department of Workforce Development and Continuing Education at Bronx Community College will make every effort to run scheduled courses. However, we reserve the right to cancel courses, make substitutions in faculty and change days, times and locations of classes if and when necessary. In the case of a canceled or postponed class, the Workforce Development staff will make every effort to contact the students. If we are unable to contact you, we strongly suggest you call two business days before class starts to confirm if a class will or will not meet as scheduled. We are not responsible for misprints in our literature or website. In the event of an error, we will make every effort to provide corrected information in a timely manner.

Requirements for Candidates for Certificate Programs

Students must complete all program course requirements including: attendance, assignments, quizzes/tests, final examinations and any projects assigned by the instructor. Also, students need to achieve a grade of C or better to receive course certificate.

Document Request Procedures

Students must complete the Document Request Form at the Workforce and Economic Development office, with the appropriate money order or credit/debit card payment, for the following:

  • Student Transcript ($0)
  • Official Transcript with Seal ($4)
  • Replacement Transcript ($5)
  • Replacement Program Certificate ($15)

Please note, regarding certificates: as per state law, we are only required to maintain program information for a maximum of seven years.

All documents may be picked up during normal office hours: Monday – Friday, 9:30am – 6pm and Saturday 8:30am – 12pm.

Refund Policy

During the registration process, students must read and verify that they understand the refund policy for Workforce and Economic Development. Students are required to complete a Refund Request Form with the Workforce and Economic Development office to initiate the refund process. The following are the periods and amounts refundable:

Drop Periods Tuition Refunded Tuition Payment Due
Cancellation of class by College 100% 0%
Drop course on/or before start date 100% 0%
Drop course after 1st class session, no attendance 75% 25%
Drop course after 1st class session, with attendance 50% 50%
Drop course after 2nd class session 25% 75%
No refunds are available after 3rd class session 0% 100%

NOTE:

All refunds are subject to the policies of The City University of New York and Bronx Community College. All refund requests are subject to administrative approvals. For proper processing, please allow 20 business days to receive refund reimbursement. Refund payments will only be mailed directly to the student, or company, if tuition was paid for by money order or company check. Refund payment checks cannot be picked up at the Workforce and Economic Development office. All credit/debit card tuition payment transactions will be refunded directly to the cardholder’s financial company.
