FAFSA Filing Time is Here!

FAFSA stands for Free Application for Federal Student Aid.

The 2024–25 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form is currently available The FAFSA for 2024-2025 will cover summer 2024, fall 2024 and spring 2025.

  • All BCC students who would like to receive Financial Aid and/or apply for loans, are required to complete the 2024-2025 FAFSA Application
  • The 2024-2025 FAFSA can be completed online at www.studentaid.gov.
  • The 2022 income tax for you, your parent(s) and /or spouse are required to complete the 2024-2025 FAFSA Application.
  • In addition, you will need your Federal FSA ID to complete your 2024-2025 FAFSA Renewal on the Web. If you and/or your parents do not have an FSA IDget your FSA ID here!
  • If you are requesting an FSA ID, you may need to wait 1-3 business days for verification purposes. After verification, you will be able to log back onto the FAFSA website and follow the instructions to complete your application. 
  • To create a FSA ID without a social security number click here for instructions
  • After filing your FAFSA be sure to file for TAP. If you have already completed your FAFSA and TAP, please contact the Financial Aid to check your status.

 

If you are enrolled in spring 2024 semester you will need to apply for  the 2023-2024 FAFSA  which can be completed online at www.studentaid.gov. The 2021 income tax for you, your parent(s) and /or spouse are required to complete the 2023-2024 FAFSA Application.

Tips before you get started:

  • Make sure you and/or your parent have a valid email address.
  • You can complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) application even if you and/or your parent did not file taxes.
  • Review your Student Aid Report (SAR) once your application is complete to make sure everything is correct.
  • IMPORTANT: Follow up on your application with our office once you receive an email confirming it was processed.

Steps to Apply for Financial Aid

Starting college is a big deal and you should consider preparing a financial aid checklist to help you get started. Here are a few steps to consider when applying for financial aid:

  1. Prepare yourself. Find out what information you need and have it with you when your apply.
  2. Know your FSA ID. Create a FSA ID before you apply and be sure to save the FSA ID and password in a safe place retrieve  when you renew or need to make corrections.
  3. Apply for FAFSA. Be sure to submit your application to receive a confirmation number.
  4. Apply for TAP. Be sure to review the eligibility criteria to receive state aid.
  5. Review your Student Aid Report (SAR).  Upon completion of your FAFSA be sure to check the SAR.
  6. Review your information. If selected for verification be sure to review the information needed to verify your FAFSA.
  7. Review your financial aid offer. You will receive an estimated financial aid offer when your application is processed that you can review and discuss with the financial aid office.
