One of the fastest growing fields today is Media Technology (MT). The entertainment field— broadcasting, television and films—is only a small part of the possibilities for trained media
specialists. Major corporations, government agencies, businesses, hospitals and educational
institutions use media to train, educate and communicate information. Students learn the skills
needed to be a media operations technician in studio video production, field production, camera
operation, lighting, editing, audio recording, digital graphics, photography, and the operation and
maintenance of video and other basic media equipment. Bronx Community College has
excellent media facilities including a multi-million-dollar state-of-the-art television studio. Cable
TV programs are broadcast regularly from the College’s studio using MT students as part of the
crew. In the last semester of study, students have the opportunity to do further work in the
industry through a supervised internship program. The Media Technology A.A.S. Program
articulates with the B.A. Television and Radio Program at Brooklyn College.
