Online Student Complaint Process

At Bronx Community College, we want all our students to have the best possible educational experience. This includes fully online students, regardless of where they live. The complaint process detailed on this page is in conformity with guidelines from NC-SARA (National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements), of which BCC is a participating institution.

We encourage students with a complaint to first attempt to resolve the issue with faculty or staff directly. If this has not resolved the issue, students may to reach out to our director of online learning, Dr. Jordi Getman-Eraso at jordi.getman@bcc.cuny.edu. Students may also engage our student ombudsperson, Dr. Stephen Powers at stephen.powers@bcc.cuny.edu.

If a resolution has not been achieved after taking the above steps, students may contact the CUNY Office of Student Advocacy and Referral:

City University of New York
Office of Student Advocacy and Referral
205 East 42nd St.
New York, NY 10017
Email: studentaffairs@cuny.edu

As a final step—should the above not resolve the issue—students may appeal the incident to the SARA State Portal Entity via the New York State Education Department’s Complaint Process:

Supervisor of Higher Education Programs
New York State Education Department
Office of College and University Evaluation
89 Washington Avenue
Albany, NY 12234
518.474.1551
IHEauthorize@nysed.gov

Please note:

  • SARA policies do not cover complaints related to grades or student conduct violations.
  • BCC offers only one program online that leads to professional licensure: the Certificate in Nuclear Medicine Technology. This program is available only to New York State residents who meet admission criteria and reside in the clinical site area. See this link for more information.
