Transfer
Admission
To be considered
for transfer admission, the following is required:
- A transfer application for admission
- A non-refundable application fee of $70.00 for Transfer students (money order)
- Official college transcript
- Official high school transcript, If less than 24 college credits.
An applicant who has previously attended another college, university
or postsecondary institution must report that fact in an application
for transfer students. The applicant must also have the former institution(s)
submit official transcript(s), including an official statement of the
conditions of withdrawal. Even if attendance at such a college was for
a short period of time and no grades are recorded, an official college
transcript is required. A student is allowed a maximum of 30 credits advanced standing (transfer
credit) in equivalent courses completed at accredited institutions of
collegiate rank. The total number of credits allowed toward the associate
degree by BCC may not exceed 30, regardless of whether the courses were
taken at other institutions before admission, during attendance at, or
after leaving Bronx Community College. Grades of D received in equivalent
courses taken at all other institutions will be accepted for credit.
Evaluations of transfer credits are done by the Admissions Office prior
to registration. Since only official transcripts can be evaluated for credit transfer, it is essential that students provide their official transcripts as early as possible.
In general, one-half of the career specialization (exclusive of general
education courses) must be taken at BCC. Because of the nature of the
curriculum, this regulation does not apply to the Liberal Arts and
Sciences curriculum. Any course for which transfer credit has been granted from another institution
cannot be repeated at BCC.
Courses passed at BCC or another college with a grade of C or higher
may not be repeated, except as an auditor (no credit). Exception: Nursing
courses must be passed with a grade of C or better and must be repeated
if a grade of C- is received. A student is permitted to repeat only once
any course he or she has failed.
