Academic Integrity
Honest effort is essential to education. We build academic skills by grappling with problems, facing challenges, and engaging with difficult material. Violations of academic integrity occur when someone bypasses this effort and makes dishonest use of unauthorized short-cuts. When someone cheats on a test, copies another person’s work or ideas without credit, or uses prohibited tools to produce work, these actions break trust in our community and undermine the learning process.
Academic dishonesty is prohibited at Bronx Community College and by the City University of New York, of which we are a part.
Faculty, students, and staff should foster academic integrity at our college:
- Understand CUNY’s Academic Integrity Policy
- Have a clear, shared understanding about rules for collaborative work, use of academic supports, and policies for use of generative AI
- Credit sources and be able to explain the process behind your academic work
Report violations of the CUNY Academic Integrity Policy to:
- Julia Miele Rodas, Academic Integrity Officer
- Academic Integrity Violation Reporting Form
