The Collaborative on Academic Careers in Higher Education, or COACHE, is research-practice partnership within the Harvard Graduate School of Education, dedicated to the discovery of and insight into the postsecondary faculty experience. CUNY has partnered with COACHE over the past decade to administer the Faculty Job Satisfaction Survey. This survey is designed to The survey captures faculty sentiment with regard to teaching, service and research, tenure and promotion, departmental engagement and collegiality, and other aspects of the academic workplace.

CUNY last administered the Faculty Job Satisfaction survey in spring 2023.  Results will be available in fall 2023. The most recent results available are from the 2019 survey.  The results from this survey revealed numerous insights, which resulted in several notable changes during the pandemic.  A summary of the results and the actions that were taken based upon them are below:
