The LGBTQI + Resource Room at Bronx Community College works to foster an inclusive, safe, and welcoming environment for students, faculty, and staff of all sexual orientations, gender identities, and gender expressions.

The Resource Room aims to sustain visibility and a sense of community by providing LGBTQI + education, programming, and support services on campus and virtually.

Scholarship Thursdays

LGBTQI+ Resource Room Advisor, Edwin Roman, is available every Thursday 12-3pm  (except September 18, October 23, 30, November 20, and December 11)  to assist students apply to LGBTQI+ scholarships such as The Point. Please e-mail edwin.roman@bcc.cuny.edu. 

The Point Foundation Community College Scholarship empowers LGBTQ+ and ally students who are earning their associate degree or intend to transfer to a four-year college or university in the United States by offering financial support, community resources, and professional development. Opens November 21, 2025 and closes on February 20, 2026.

The Point Foundation Flagship Scholarship empowers LGBTQ+ and ally students who are earning their undergraduate, graduate, & doctoral degrees at accredited colleges in the United States by offering financial support, community resources, and professional development. Opens September 10, and closes December 5, 2025

The Point Foundation Access Scholarship aims to mitigate obstacles for LGBTQ+ and ally students from backgrounds that have traditionally faced limited access to opportunities by providing them with financial support and access to leadership and professional development. Opens January 28, 2026 and closes March 13, 2026. Awarded scholars will receive funding for the next academic term. Funding is provided for a single academic term.

Queer Lit Book Club

Provides an opportunity for students to read and discuss queer literature of various genres and examine the ways in which this literature has inspired students’ own creative works.

Black and Queer

Black & Queer is an events based group for and by queer-identifying BCC students of the African Diaspora. Topics and events typically focus on the intersectionalities of Blackness, queerness, and a host of others
experienced by students at BCC. Please email LGBTQI@bcc.cuny.edu.

The LGBTQI+ Resource Room, located in the Roscoe Brown Student Center in Room 312, is open Monday through Thursday 12-5pm, and Friday 1-4pm. 718.289.5300.
Students, faculty, and staff may enter the room without joining a specific group or club.
