
Spring and Fall 2024 Activities
The Justice & Advocacy Alliance semester activities aim to reduce stigma and develop a sense of community by providing educational workshops, programming, and support services for justice-impacted students & allies at BCC.
Justice & Advocacy Alliance Book Club: The Justice & Advocacy Alliance hosted a book club twice a month to encourage reading, improve communication, raise awareness, and help students build a community at BCC. The Alliance provided the books and discussion questions that center on justice impacted communities. Faculty, staff, and students attended with an open mind and led with empathy during the difficult conversations.

You Good? Alliance Check-in Group: The Alliance offered a weekly virtual support group to share experiences and feelings about the criminal legal system. The goal was to reduce isolation and loneliness and to feel more empowered and connected to your peers and the BCC community.
Justice Alliance Student Club: The purpose of the Justice Alliance Student Club at BCC was to understand the assets and challenges of individuals impacted by the criminal legal system. The goal was to learn how to advocate for justice-impacted communities. Involvement in this club helped students develop new skills, improve communication, and practice teamwork. The club provided opportunities for networking with peers and professionals and helps students develop leadership skills and serve the BCC and larger community.
