This page outlines the steps to begin your online academic journey at Bronx Community College.
New Online Student Checklist
STEP 1: Claim your CUNYfirst account, Bronco user ID, and BCC Email account.
- CUNYfirst is the portal that allows students to register for classes, check their course schedule, financial information, and more. Watch this video to learn how to claim your CUNYfirst account.
- Bronco user ID and BCC email are connected. Claim your Bronco ID here.
STEP 2: Accept your offer of Admissions
- You can do this in the offer email we sent you or through your CUNYfirst student account. You can also just email us to accept your offer at Admission@bcc.cuny.edu
STEP 3: Submit your immunization form (MMR and Meningitis Form)
- Download and complete an MMR/Meningitis Immunization Form before you can register for classes. You will need to submit proof of two doses of measles, one of mumps and one of rubella. Submit your proof in PDF format via email to healthservices@bcc.cuny.edu
STEP 4: File your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), and Tuition Assistance Program (TAP)
ONLY U.S. Citizens and Eligible Non-Citizens
- Save thousands of dollars! Submit your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). BCC FAFSA School Code: 002692
- Also, if you are an NY State resident, be sure to complete your NYS Student Aid Payment Application (TAP). BCC TAP School Code: 1400
- Create an account and apply for a Federal Student Aid Identification Number (FSA ID) to access your personal records and check status of your application.
STEP 5: Connect with an Academic Advisor
After you’ve accepted the offer of admissions (Step 2 above) you’ll receive an email with instructions to schedule your virtual advisement appointment. During your appointment you will:
- Meet with an Academic Advisor
- Review your major
- Select your course schedule
- Discuss any questions you may have
- Explore options to participate in New Student Orientation
- Find out how to claim your loaner laptop which you can keep during your time as a student at BCC
STEP 6: Register for Classes
- Find courses and schedules and complete your registration by logging into CUNYfirst
STEP 7: Pay your Tuition
- Click here to view payment options: You can pay online, using financial aid, third-party payments, by mail or by enrolling in a payment plan.
- Students receiving financial aid must ensure that they have completed the financial aid application process and fulfilled all requirements. Please refer to Step 4 to find how to contact the Financial Aid Office.
STEP 8: Start Your Classes
- Review your schedule on CUNYfirst.
- Watch this playlist to familiarize yourself with Brightspace. You will be using Brightspace to access your course content, submit coursework and interact with your professors and fellow students.
- Login to Brightspace here.
- Become familiar with the academic calendar for details about deadlines, days when classes are not in session, and change of schedule.
