Summer 2024 – Class Schedule
We offer the classes below to qualifying NYC Department of Education public high school juniors and seniors.
Classes will be offered in person for the Summer 2024 semester.
Monday through Thursday (in person)
July 8, 2024 – August 8, 2024 10:00 a.m. – 12:10 p.m.
This course covers the fundamentals of computer office software. It will involve learning the basics of Microsoft Office and non-Microsoft applications of similar use. This is a “hands-on” course that focuses on giving students the time to experience and experiment with the applications available to them. The course will be taught using alternating lecture and lab days so that the students can be introduced to the concepts and then experiment with what they have learned.
Eligibility Requirements
Be a NY City public high school student, entering 11th or 12th grade in September 2024.
Submit an application along with a high school transcript.
Overall high school GPA of 75+, 65+ all completed English and Math courses.
Students must attend an in-person orientation at Bronx Community College on Tuesday, June 25, 2024, from 3:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.

July 8, 2024 – August 8, 2024 10:00 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
This course covers the fundamentals of computer hardware and software and advanced concepts such as networking, security, and the responsibilities of an IT professional. Students who complete this course will be able to describe the internal components of a computer, assemble a personal computer, install an operating system, and troubleshoot using system tools and diagnostic software. Students will also be able to connect to the Internet and share resources in a networked environment. Topics include Microsoft Windows operating systems, mobile operating systems, macOS, Linux, and client-side virtualization.
REQUIREMENTS
Be a New York City public high school student entering 11th or 12th grade in September 2024.
Must be interested in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM).
Overall high school GPA of 75+, 65+ all completed English and Math courses.
Students must attend an in-person orientation at Bronx Community College on Tuesday, June 25, 2024, from 3:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
