Summer 2021 – Class Schedule

We offer the classes below to qualifying NYC Department of Education public high school juniors and seniors.

Classes will be offered online for the Summer 2021 semester.

Monday through Thursday

July 6, 2021 – August 5, 2021 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

In an increasingly high-tech and competitive world, learning computer skills has become not only an asset, but a necessity in today’s society. Computer literacy helps to establish both analytical and technical skills required for interactive learning and student achievement. Register for a morning college level course ELC 15: Computer Applications in Technology (2 credits) and learn how to create business documents, spreadsheets, graphs, databases and presentations. In the afternoon, take our exciting workshop where students learn to work in teams within a simulated business environment. This five-week program helps students to develop 21st century computer and entrepreneurial skills. Students will gain valuable experience in exploring various job and career opportunities in a virtual business setting.

Eligibility Requirements

Be a NY City public high school student, entering 11th or 12th grade in September 2020

Submit an application along with a high school transcript

Score of 60 or higher in mathematics

PSAT score of 480+ OR 65 or higher in the Global Regents

Overall high school GPA of 70 or higher

Must attend an online orientation.

Monday through Thursday

July 6, 2021 – August 5, 2021 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

This course is an introduction to the concepts and applications of cybersecurity. It presents an overall picture of the cybersecurity principles. It also introduces basic networking, assessing and handling of security risks, hardware components, and basic computer troubleshooting used in computer systems.

REQUIREMENTS

Be a New York City public high school student, entering 11th or 12th grade in September 2020.

Must have an interest in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM).

Global Regents score of 65 or higher, OR PSAT score of 480 or higher.

One Common Core score of 60 or higher in mathematics.

Overall high school GPA of 70 or higher.

Must attend an online orientation.
