A Message from President Dr. Larry D. Johnson, Jr.

Dear Bronx Community College Community,

With deep gratitude and great enthusiasm, I write to you as the incoming President of Bronx Community College, effective July 14, 2025, pending CUNY Board of Trustees approval.

From the very first conversation with members of the search committee to engaging with faculty, staff, students, and partners, I have felt the brilliance, energy, and resilience that make Bronx Community College the crown jewel of the Bronx. This is a college defined by possibility—anchored in equity, powered by its people, and driven by the boundless potential of our students.

This college has shone brightly and expanded opportunity under the leadership of Interim President Milton Santiago and past President Thomas A. Isekenegbe, who have each contributed meaningfully to BCC’s legacy. I’m grateful for their service as I continue this journey with a new vision forward.

We now stand at the threshold of a new chapter—one we will write together. It will be shaped by our shared values, informed by our proud history, and driven by our unshakable belief in the promise of every student. I am honored to serve alongside you as we reimagine what is possible for our college, our community, and our collective future.

From my early conversations across campus, three guiding pillars emerged — Belonging. Collaborating. Communicating. These values will shape how we work, lead, and grow. They also serve as the foundation for my 100-Day Presidential Plan — a roadmap designed to build trust, create momentum, and deepen our sense of shared purpose.
