Roles & Responsibilities

ROLES

Primary Content Contributor – usually a full-time staff or faculty member – designated by each area’s department head to serve as the first point of contact for web pages on their respective section(s). Content contributors are issued account access to all web pages within their division or area.

Substitute Content Contributor – a secondary staff or faculty member identified for each area to ensure business continuity. The second person will serve as an alternate.

Exception: The only unit with two primary point persons is Academic Affairs and Student Success. Only designated content authors or their alternates will be allowed to make changes to web pages.

Department Heads – deans, chairs, directors, and vice or assistant vice presidents – identify two individuals to manage their respective sections.

Electronic Media Manager – Webmaster – Manages the College’s digital presence, including but not limited to the website.

Responsibilities

Primary Content Contributors –  responsible for the day-to-day maintenance of their site

  • Keep existing website content up-to-date and accurate.
  • Create and post new content at the discretion of the department head.
  • Communicate with the Electronic Media Manager regarding website problems, requests, and needs.
  • Ensure web pages and electronic publications within their purview comply with the College’s style guide, guidelines, and standards.

Substitute Content Contributors – in the absence of the primary, the substitute is responsible for the day-to-day maintenance of their site

  • Keep existing website content up-to-date and accurate.
  • Create and post new content at the discretion of the department head.
  • Communicate with the Electronic Media Manager regarding website problems, requests, and needs.
  • Ensure web pages and electronic publications within their purview comply with the College’s style guide, guidelines, and standards.

Department Heads- Deans, Chairs, Directors and Vice Presidents

  • Identify a primary and secondary content contributor for their department.
  • Request permission changes for the content contributor (both granting and terminating access).
  • Ensure content contributors complete and remain up-to-date with website training.
  • Ultimately responsible for all content published on the site.

Electronic Media Manager – Webmaster

  • Ensures that the guidelines are properly followed.
  • Manages and maintains day-to-day Web processes and workflow.
  • Manages and maintains the College’s digital presence.
  • Provides training for all content contributors.
  • Troubleshoots Web issues as they arise.
  • Informs the content contributors and department heads of any necessary updates, changes or additional training that may occur.
  • Provides general support to campus units for their digital presence, including but not limited to the Website.
