Journalist Pedro Rivera Named 2026 Commencement Keynote Speaker
Emmy Award-winning journalist and Bronx native Pedro Rivera will address the Class of 2026 as Bronx Community College’s Commencement keynote speaker. As a journalist and storyteller, he’s known for elevating diverse voices and bringing important stories to life—making him a powerful and inspiring choice for this year’s ceremony.
We’re excited to welcome him to celebrate the Class of 2026!
Meet Jazmin Rodriguez
BCC’s 2026 Valedictorian
While working full time as a paraprofessional with the NYC Department of Education, Jazmin completed her degree in Early Childhood Education. As she prepares for Commencement, her journey reminds us that growth takes time—and courage.
Meet Olivia Casillas
BCC’s 2026 Salutatorian
A Bronx native, second-generation BCC student, and an ASAP student, Olivia completed her degree in just two years through year-round study. After beginning in graphic design, she discovered an interest in the expanding opportunities within cybersecurity and shifted her academic focus.
She has been accepted to John Jay College of Criminal Justice, where she will study computer science and information security.
National Spotlight on the Hall of Fame
The Hall of Fame of Great Americans at BCC is gaining renewed national attention in a Bloomberg Opinion feature highlighting its history and significance.
For 125 years, this landmark has honored the figures who shaped the nation, standing as a powerful example of American art and architecture. Its beauty endures—and its legacy continues to inspire.
