About Honors Contracts
Honors Contracts provide students and faculty in a non-honors section the opportunity to create a project and do honors-level work together.
Criteria:
- Student must have 3.2 GPA (or higher) and 9 or more college credits.*
- Instructor must approve the project and both instructor and student must submit a completed honors contract form online by the seventh week of the semester.
- The non-honors course must be worth 2 or more credits.
What is an Honors Contract Project?
- Student and instructor work together to make a project that adds depth or breadth to the course, includes critical thinking, and hones skills.
- How? They expand upon an existing assignment significantly or create a new one that suits the nature and learning goals of the course.
Why Pursue a Contract?
- Both student and instructor engage with the course and each other to create a more meaningful learning experience.
- Students can explore elements of the course that they are passionate about and develop skills that they wish to improve.
Students receiving a B+ or higher in both the course and the honors project will receive an honors credit notation on their official transcript.
*In exceptional circumstances, a student who does not meet these guideline, in consultation with the Honors Program Coordinators and the instructor, may be approved.
