ASAP does not make a determination on the number of credits that BCC accepts. The offices of Admissions and Registrar evaluate credits from other institutions and determine BCC credit and course equivalencies. Once they make their determination, you will know if you are ASAP eligible.
All Associate Degrees offered at BCC are accepted except Nuclear Medicine Technology and Radiologic Technology. Certificate degrees are not accepted in ASAP.
Yes. To be eligible for ASAP you must file a FAFSA and HESC (TAP) application. However, you are not required to receive financial aid to participate in ASAP. Students must qualify for some financial aid in order to receive a tuition waiver from the program.

No, out of state students do not qualify for ASAP. Students who reside in the surrounding NYC counties (Yonkers, Westchester) may qualify as long as they provide a Certificate of Residence from the residing county.
If you have more than two outstanding remedial classes, you may be conditionally accepted into ASAP and required to complete at least one remedial class before being accepted into ASAP. If you have one outstanding remedial class need, ASAP will strongly recommend that you complete the remedial course before entering ASAP. Students who have more than two outstanding remedial needs are highly encouraged to take advantage of CUNY Start.
You and your ASAP advisor will discuss and decide on the number of credits you will attempt to complete each semester. If you have a high GPA, it may be a good idea to enroll in 15 or more credits in a semester. ASAP students are encouraged to take advantage of the winter and summer intersession as a way to accumulate credits and move faster towards graduation. All ASAP students must attend BCC full time (12 or more credits a semester).
The mission of ASAP is to help you successfully complete an Associate Degree in the shortest possible time. Students who enter ASAP with 0 to 16 credits have up to 6 semesters in ASAP to complete their degrees. Students who enter with 17 to 24 credits have up to 5 semesters and students with 25 to 30 credits have up to 4 semesters. (Semesters = Fall & Spring semesters.)
Work with your advisor to develop a plan to raise your GPA over 2.0. If you do so, and still have 30 or fewer credits, you can apply to ASAP. You may use the GPA Calculator in DegreeWorks to help you determine how to raise your GPA.
